17 Food Studios in London
Every food shoot is different, so it requires a different approach. Some need a large industrial kitchen, some require multiple functional ovens, and others might prefer catering included so they can focus on the shoot itself. We’ve often found ourselves in situations where we needed a very specific food studio to meet our very particular project needs, and that’s how this list of 17 Food Studios in London came to be. We thought it was only fair to share it with anyone who might be comparing different locations to find the one that best fits their needs.
All of this research was done by us, so before renting, please make sure to read all the studio’s hire conditions and double-check with the studio manager to ensure the information we provided is still up to date.
The list below is ordered by North, East, South and West and not in any order of preference. We believe all of these are an amazing value to London’s studio offering and would love to feature all equally, based on your shoot requirements and ours.
1. N5 Studios

Can be both daylight and blackout.
The skylight can be covered easily and there is a big heavy curtain.
Kitchen:
3-kitchen, 4-fridge, 5-oven location house.
Parking:
Plenty of (paid) parking.
Catering/Hot drinks:
They don’t provide catering in house but recommend using local N5 Kitchens. There’s a hot tap for tea and a coffee machine.
Accessibility:
No lift.
Equipment:
None available on site.
Power:
Masses of power points but this is a residential building so no phase 4.
HMU/Styling/Props:
There isn’t a HMU station per se but plenty of trestle tables.

Kitchen:
Fully functional modern kitchen tailored for culinary shoots. Part of the food studio set is on wheels so it can be easily used as a kitchen island. Appliances include a Kenwood kMix food mixer with accessories, a double oven, a combi oven and microwave, an induction hob, a gas hob, an American-style fridge/freezer, a double stainless steel sink with mixer tap and hand spray, and a dishwasher.
Parking:
Up to three parking spaces available for booking at a price per space for the day. Alternatively, there is pay & display on the street or an NCP car park, an 8-minute walk away in Aldgate East.
Accessibility:
The studio has a large goods lift for easy load in/out of equipment and ingredients.
Catering/Hot drinks:
They provide catering and hot drinks through their catering partner.
Equipment/Backdrops/Coloramas:
They provide equipment through their rental partner, 123 London.

3. The Organ Factory

The Chapel Studio (First floor): 1200 sq ft (111m²) daylight studio with adjoining drawing office – 260 sq ft (24m²).
The Mill (Ground floor): 1200 sq ft (111m²) shoot/event space with additional adjoining bar – 200 sq ft (19m²).
The Main Hall (Ground floor): 2450 sq ft (228m²), with voicing shop for HMU or additional working space, loading bay, and production office (mezzanine).

4. Smoke House Studios

Daylight/Blackout:
The studio can be used for daylight, there are three large traced windows that provide good continuous daylight but more often than not the black out blinds can provide a 90% blackout option.
Kitchen:
Appliances include two ovens, a microwave, a full-length fridge and freezer, a dishwasher, an induction hob, a food processor, and a deep fat fryer.
Parking:
The nearest parking is at St Marks Gate, E9 5HT which is much cheaper than street parking and a short walk to the studio. Parking and unloading directly outside the studio is possible.
Accessibility:
Studio is located on the ground floor.
Catering/Coffee:
There is a Nespresso machine, a Moccamaster coffee maker, and kettle/tea-making facilities.
Equipment:
Dry hire includes a Foba Stand, trestle tables, extension cables, polyboards, trace frames, perspex frames, sandbags and stage weights, as well as a small selection of coloramas.
Wet hire includes a shoot trolley, Broncolor packs and heads, two soft box shapers, a beauty dish, C stands, autopiler, and super clamps and magic arms.
There’s also a selection of Colorama backdrops in both 9ft and 4ft sizes, with supporting stands such as beer crates, trestle tables, and dedicated Colorama stands.
Power:

HMU/Styling/Props:
There’s an option of using extra breakout tables for HMU/styling stations.
For props, there’s a collection of glassware and dishes. They come as an extra with the studio.

5. Street Studios

Studio 5a can be used in conjunction with Studio 5 using interconnecting doors for larger food shoots and events.
Daylight/Blackout:
Studio 5 has an option of daylight or full blackout.
Studio 5A/kitchen studio doesn’t have a blackout option but can be blocked off from the Studio 5 for blackout shoot space if used combined.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is equipped with a Falcon Dominator six-burner gas open-top oven range, two Polar double-door counter fridges, a Tefcold upright freezer, a Buddalo 2.5-litre blender, and a microwave.
Parking:
Parking spaces are subject to availability, and carry a charge per day.
On-street parking is available; the closest public car park is Bentley Road. Also refer to Just Park app for locating alternative parking.
Accessibility:
No lift but if using the kitchen studio in the complex, then this is ground floor access.
Catering/Hot drinks:
No catering provided but there is a snack basket, a fridge with soft drinks and complimentary filtered still water. There’s also complimentary tea station.
Equipment:
Stills hire and motion hire are offered through the studio’s partners: 123 London and FAVA. They have a small selection of in-house equipment items on site. Their lighting supplier stocks Schmidli Backdrops and they have an in-house colorama stock and stands. Studio hire includes ten polys & stands, ten sandbags, two metal rolling trolleys and a rolling chair.
Power:
32amp single-phase outlet, 32amp 3-phase outlet and 13amp socket banks.
HMU/Styling/Props:
They have a selection of tabletops and chairs available on site. They also maintain an in-house stock of Coloramas and collaborate with set builders for bespoke set constructions. In addition, flats and plinths are available for hire on site, and they can provide painting services.
A rail with 25 hangers is also available.

6. Yes Please! Studios

7 large north- and south-facing windows provide beautiful natural light throughout the day.
Blackout blinds installed on all 7 windows. 9ft polyboards are also available to create a controlled environment.
Kitchen:
Two fully equipped kitchens with a movable kitchen island.
Appliances include a dishwasher, two AEG combination ovens, a large fridge and freezer, a Smeg 5-zone gas hob with wok burner, an AEG 5-zone induction hob, a KitchenAid food processor, and HexClad cookware.
Parking:
They can pre-arrange your off-street parking. Otherwise, if they are full, there is street parking available at your own cost throughout the day.
Accessibility:
No lift. Studio is on the second floor and is accessed via staircase. Loading bay goes directly into entrance of stairs.
Catering/Hot drinks:
Catering can be provided to your budget. They offer a fully stocked coffee and tea area.
Equipment:
Equipment includes a Cambo stand UST 8ft with Manfrotto 405 gear head, trestle legs, an apple box set (full, half, quarter and pancake), seven 8ft x 4ft full polyboards, two 4ft x 4ft half polyboards, four sandbags, a C stand, a digital cart trolley, a wheelie stool, extension leads, clamps, and two trestle tables.
There are a couple of surfaces, a props stand, and some backdrop rolls available.
Power:
13amp power sockets.
HMU/Styling/Props:
There’s an office that can be used as a separate space from the main studio, with an additional hire fee. Alternatively, some people set up a trestle in the studio. Possibility of hiring additional studios next door.

7. Kitchen Studio London

Can be both daylight and blackout.
Two windows for natural light.
Kitchen:
Fully equipped prep kitchen on the same floor as the kitchen studio, which food stylists can use to prep any food needed for shoots. The prep kitchen is charged per day to hire. There’s a large movable kitchen island.
Appliances include a single oven, double oven, Hotpoint 4-burner electric hob, American-style fridge/freezer, fridge/freezer, Panasonic microwave, Dualit 4-slot toaster, Gaggia coffee maker, and Bosch dishwasher.
Parking:
Up to three free parking permits are available in the business park. Additional parking can be arranged upon request. Parking spaces in the business park are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and the parking permit doesn’t guarantee a parking space.
Accessibility:
The shoot kitchen is situated on the first floor. There’s no lift, but there are two wide staircases, which make it easy to access the kitchen with large equipment. There is a large roller shutter and a loading bay to get things into the ground floor.
Catering/Hot drinks:
Possibility of organising external catering. Complimentary hot drinks are available on site.
Equipment:
Wet and dry hire available.
They provide several packages that include all required lighting equipment.
Customers booking the Kitchen Only package have access to a selection of basic equipment free of charge, including light stands, poly boards, clamps, magic arms, black flags, tapes, gels (coloured filters), sandbags, diffusing screens, and bread crates.
A range of backgrounds are available for use.

Smaller studio, in particular, is great for daylight, but the majority of shoots in both studios are lit.

One courtyard space available free of charge with each studio booking (off-street). Chargeable road permits for additional cars (limited but normally available). Plus numerous local Just Park App car park options

Lift.

They don’t provide catering but there are complimentary tea, coffee and water facilities.

Lighting and camera hires available on request at additional cost.
They have some surfaces and coloramas in the studios which can be used for additional hire fees.

In the main studio are 8 double sockets for shooting area. Smaller studio has 5. Both studios can also run three-phase.

Possibility of hiring both studios so the smaller studio can be used for castings/wardrobe/HMU or model/client overflow.

10. Sidey Studios

Daylight/Blackout:
Can be both daylight and blackout with a caveat that for blackout you would need to hire in blackout drapes.
Right next to the kitchen, there is a floor-to-ceiling, west-facing window. Most shoots simply use their lights at the back of the studio, where the daylight doesn’t interfere.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is fully equipped with standard appliances, including a large range cooker, an additional oven, and a camera-facing induction hob. There is extensive counter space. It features a large American-style fridge/freezer, with an additional fridge available for hire. Pantry trolleys are provided to organise and display ingredients.
Parking:
There is plenty of on-street parking right outside the studio. There is also a limited amount of free on-street parking on the adjacent road.
Accessibility:
No lift. The studio is on the first floor, up 22 stairs.
Catering/Hot drinks:
No catering provided. Krups coffee machine and barista-quality coffee. Tea, dairy and oat milk available.
Equipment:
The equipment includes a Cambo camera stand, light stands, a Colorama stand with pole, six polyboards with their stands, a 5 m by 4 m corner set, a small ladder, sandbags and weights, and a digi table. Coloramas are available for hire, and a variety of tabletop surfaces are also available for use.
Power:
Regular power and three-phase with over 20 outlets.
HMU/Styling/Props:
Upper mezzanine has a large mirrored desk for HMUAs
They offer fashion stylists, clothes rails for the wardrobe and an optional private dressing room for models. There is a clothes steamer, adjustable height trestle legs, and three freestanding clothes rails available.
All the crockery in the studio is free to use.

Parking for three vehicles.
Accessibility:
The studio is located on the ground floor.

No catering provided. There’s a tea and coffee station.
Equipment:
Equipment includes a 9ft Cambo Stand. They don’t specifically have backdrops, but they do have a number of coloramas available to use.

Can be both daylight and blackout.
There are black plastic sheets with magnetic edges lining up with the poly boards, which fit onto each window. Both doors are fitted with blackout curtains.
Kitchen:
Equipment includes a Smeg double range cooker, an American-style fridge and freezer, a Smeg electric induction hob on the island, a Bosch multifunction kitchen machine (including blender and mixer), a KitchenAid stand mixer, a food processor, a hand blender, a NutriBullet, a Kenwood microwave, an instant-read food probe thermometer, and oven thermometers.
Parking:
One free parking space. There’s also free and unrestricted parking in Kemble Road, as well as all the surrounding side roads.
Accessibility:
No lift. The studio is located on the first floor and is accessible via an external metal staircase and double doors. Once inside, the studio is all on a single level.
Catering/Hot drinks:
No catering provided. Tea and coffee are available. The studio is equipped with a Nespresso pod coffee machine, a milk frother, a Sage espresso machine, and a drawer containing caffeinated and decaffeinated options, including teas and hot chocolate. Biscuits and jars of snacks are provided. Milk is not usually supplied due to allergy and dietary considerations, but nearby shops offer a full range of milk alternatives.
Equipment:
All equipment in the studio is available for use during your shoot. This includes polyboards with stands, trestles and tabletops, two rise-and-fall standing desks, step ladders, and extension cables. A colour-balanced monitor is available for hire by prior arrangement.
Power:
Standard 230v single-phase power.
HMU/Styling/Props:
The studio is 6m wide and 10m long, so depending on what kind of shoot is being undertaken, there is usually space to set up a HMU station.
There’s a bathroom with a mirror and hooks, for changing. You can also request a small built-in rail for clothing, clothes rack, hangers, iron with ironing boarding, and hand steamer.
All props and background are free to use, there is no extra charge. The more practical kitchen equipment is all in the drawers (and hidden drawers inside drawers) and cupboards in the kitchen, while the more photogenic props are on the shelves.

A large urban kitchen with concrete worktops and a central island worktop. They have two Smeg fridges, one is a fully working fridge freezer, and the other is a replica backless fridge, adapted for getting tricky opening fridge shots. In addition, the studio includes a chest freezer, microwave, double oven, induction hob and several other kitchen appliances.
Parking:
Free parking on left side when entering the estate. On-site HGV parking available on request.
Accessibility:
No lift.
Catering/Coffee:
No catering provided. Kettles and fresh water on site, as well as tea bags and instant coffee.
Equipment:
The equipment includes a pantograph lighting rig and an infinity cove. A lighting kit rental is available upon request. A selection of 2.7 m Colorama paper backdrops is also available upon request.
Power:
13amp sockets, 13amp ceiling sockets and 32amp three-phase socket.
HMU/Styling/Props:
They can offer a dressing room in addition to your studio booking. The room features a small dressing area with mirrors and a privacy curtain, along with a makeup desk and mirror. Included within the dressing room hire is a steamer and clothes rail.

Free on-site parking is available for clients. Easy ground-floor access for unloading equipment and props.

Studio is located on the ground floor.

No catering provided, but there is a complimentary tea and coffee station.

Lighting equipment includes three polyboards, two C-stands, and six sandbags. Overhead rigging points for professional lighting equipment. Optional rental of additional production gear.

Multiple power sockets throughout the space. Customisable lighting options (natural & studio lighting setups). Dimmable LED lights for adjustable ambiance.

Each studio has a makeup and changing room on the mezzanine. Iron, ironing board, steamer, and clothing rail provided.

The studio has two west-facing windows with blackout blinds and front terrace bi-fold doors. Black polyboards are provided to block out light if necessary.

Appliances include two Neff ovens, two 346 litre Gram glass-fronted fridges on wheels, a microwave, an under-counter freezer, an AEG 4-ring induction hob, and a dishwasher.
Parking:
Pay by Phone is available on Warple Way and Valetta Road.
Accessibility:
Lift.

They provide catering. Tea and coffee are provided in the communal area.
Equipment:
The equipment includes Cambo stands, six poly boards with their corresponding stands, a high computer desk accompanied by a stool, four trestles with tabletops, six sandbags, and a step ladder.

There’s a HMU station as well as two green rooms which can be hired separately.

Kitchen:
The kitchen is fully equipped with six single ovens, three full-size fridges, three full-size freezers, three five-burner gas hobs, and three instant-boil Quooker taps. There are also three microwaves, three dishwashers, and three complete sets of Global knives. For beverages, the space includes two automatic bean-to-cup coffee machines. Additional appliances include deep fat fryers, induction hobs, an Ooni pizza oven, as well as some KMix appliances such as: three stand mixers, three Excel food processors, three hand blenders, three blenders, three toasters, and three hand mixers.
Parking:
Each studio has two spaces. The parking charges are on the website under rates.
Accessibility:
No lift.
Catering/Hot drinks:
Bean to cup coffee which is provided by their partner, Artisan Coffee. Tea and milk, as well as milk alternatives, available on request.
Equipment:
The studio offers a lighting rig, a mobile platform for attaching lights, polyboard stands, and a Foba/Cambo stand. Additionally, there are plenty of Coloramas and backdrops available for hire.
Power:
Three-phase electrical point.
HMU/Styling/Props:
Makeup room included with Studio 1 but if you need a larger space they can also offer the smaller studio (Studio 2) as a green room.
Irons, ironing boards and trestle tables available.
Backgrounds Prop Hire are a 2-minute drive away, and they also have a very extensive props collection for hire. Props will always be available and charged per day for a nominal price.
